Description
For over 20 years, “In-Action” has been a well-kept secret, enjoyed only by a close-knit circle of friends. Originally penned as one of the very first games under the Afour Games banner, this lightweight, small-scale skirmish game is now available to the public for the first time.
“In-Action” was designed to be a one-stop option for when you want to throw some miniatures on the table and see what unfolds. It blends a layer of realism-lite with a strong focus on action, making every skirmish feel both intense and approachable. The game’s choice-driven loop emphasizes strategy added to chance of simple dice mechanics, offering a streamlined experience that’s easy to learn yet challenging to master. Perfect for deeper, more narrative, satisfying skirmishes, the rules are styled to keep the gameplay fluid and (hopefully) fun, without getting bogged down in complexity. Plus, the entire game fits on a single sheet of A4 paper (when printed double-sided!), making it truly an Afour Game—simple, efficient, and ready to play. Now is your chance to experience a game that has been privately cherished for decades. Print it, play it, and be part of the legacy as “In-Action” steps out of the shadows and into the hands of tabletop enthusiasts everywhere. V1.1 Corrected some small layout issues V1.2 Switches the game from a ‘dice-less’ choice system to a more common dice-check game system (it was boring…) V1.3 Oh no balancing! Some of the higher tier weapons are toned down to make sense. (You’d think after 20+ years of on/off development this stuff would be sorted… And you’d be wrong about that assumption.) V1.4 Radical changes to the mechanics of team balancing for easier comprehension of the rules. V1.5 Tightened some internal reference phrasing and clarified a few parts, introduced additional bonuses when creating a team of fighters. V1.6 Altered Instructions for clarity, no changes of game mechanics or details. If you purchased this rule set and have any version, you are most welcome to request any prior version – From my personal perspective, I only ever attempt to improved the game, and as such previous versions are inferior, but you’re welcome to try them. They are not hosted for download here but are available at request.
